Worthington comments on Brick Works Plan

Peter Worthington, erstwhile columnist and former editor for the Toronto Sun has put in his two cents worth on Evergreen's plan for the Don Valley Brick Works. Dog owner Worthington recently wrote a column where he laments that Evergreen's plans may mean that his quiet dog run in the Brick Works quarry ponds is going to end. He does reluctantly point out that the pond area is NOT an off-leash area even though he would like it to be.

Interesting that Worthington quotes Toronto Humane Society's Tim Trow who claims to be a member of the Brick Works Public Advisory Committee. However I can state categorically that he is not a member of the BWPAC and never has been. How do I know? I sit on the advisory committee and Mr. Trow is not a member and has never even been appeared as a guest. So there.

Tim Trow is destroying the Toronto Humane Society as president of this great shelter for animals. I am glad to hear he can't put his grubby hands on the Brick Works too. I don't understand why Peter Worthington stands behind Mr Trow and risks an association with the destruction of a Toronto landmark.

Speaking of Tim Trow, the Toronto Humane Society has now been on strike for the past 6 & 1/2 months. Find out how Tim's been ruining things... www.savethets.com

In a recent posting on the THS website there is a complaint about dog owners being banned from entering the Brick Works. Trow is the author of the THS website and uses it as his personal forum. He counts on Peter Worthington, and other journalists, to not check their facts. (Worthington is an ex-Board member at the THS, last serving in 1991, and a contributor to the THS publication AnimalTalk who can be counted on to not demand evidence, verify sources, do research or check facts. A perfect candidate for someone to parrot Trow's views) What is the THS interest in the Brick Works? Why should they even have an interest? Ostensibly they run an animal shelter. They have no position statements on anything, just nebulous leanings that must be induced from the website and Trow's weird letters to various people. Trow writes these letters without Board approval. The title of the post is something about "Mayor Miller's Anti-animal council". Trow uses dirty alarmist tactics, vilifying others, creating scapegoats and enemies to further HIS agenda which in his arrogance he has confused with that of the THS.
On another note, the Teamsters strike is long over, all those employees are now gone, they since hired all new staff, had two complete staff turnovers ensued since then.
